SLIMMEN, WILLIAM P. “BILL” of Waterford, passed away September 7, 2021 at 76 years of age. Loving husband of Linda for 30 years; dear father of Cristina (Daniel) McAleer; stepfather of Kelly (Jerry) Inman, Kim (Bill) Moesta, Kevin (Lisa) Pike, and the late Greg Pike; grandfather of Alex, Hunter, Caden, Aaron, Adam, Natalie, Christopher, Matthew, Brian, Luke, and Claire; brother of Arnie (the late Carol) Slimmen; special uncle of Megan and Becky; preceded in death by 6 siblings. Also survived by his friend, motorcycle buddy and brother-in-law Bruce MacDonald; precious golden doodle Sadie; and mother of his daughter Grace and her children Molly and Gabrial. Bill was a veteran of the US Navy Vietnam. He was a department supervisor for Farmer Jack most of his career. Bill was an all-around man, avid golfer; motorcycle enthusiast; traveler; Tiger and hockey sports fan; and a coney café fan for a strong cup of java. A staunch Republican, he could also be the jokester in the room. Bill and his family are forever grateful for the heart transplant he received from Kirk VanDer Molen. The generous gift from Kirk’s wife, Kendra (Dan) Prescher, Kirk’s children, Isaiah, Jake, and Luke, and Kirk’s parents, Harvey and Darlean VanDer Molen provided Bill with a new heart and 24 more years with his loving family. He will be dearly missed forever. A memorial service will be Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 5:00 PM at COATS FUNERAL HOME-WATERFORD. Family will receive friends Thursday 4 PM until time of service and until 8 PM following service. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
