William Alexander Chaffin, Sr.

CHAFFIN, WILLIAM A. SR. of Otter Lake, passed away August 14, 2025 at 70 years of age. Loving husband of Laura for 24 years; dear father of Melissa Tolfree, Billy Chaffin, Jr., Marshall Stambaugh, and Alisha Stambaugh; Poppy of Tajyanna, Andrew (Ashley), Skylar (Alan), and Lillie; great Poppy of 3 boys; also survived by 3 sisters and 4 brothers, and Amy, Trevor, and Jack whom he loved as his own. Preceded in death by his parents, William Alexander Pate, Joe Bill and Lily Chaffin, and best friend Robert Lemaster.  Bill retired from GM in 2003 after 30 years of service. A song writer and guitarist, Bill enjoyed writing special songs for his family. He enjoyed woodworking; working on cars; gardening; tinkering; kayaking; and cannot forget, watching every episode of Gunsmoke.  His gardening skills brought many compliments as his yard looked like a beautiful park. Bill will be remembered for continuing his best friend Robert’s annual pig roast in Robert’s memory, an event that  family and friends looked forward to every summer.  Bill’s greatest hobby was time spent with his family, his family was the world to him. A wonderful husband, father, and Poppy will be forever loved and missed. Funeral service will be Friday, August 22, 2025 at 1 PM at COATS FUNERAL HOME-CLARKSTON 8909 Dixie Hwy. Burial follows Ottawa Park Cemetery, Clarkston. Family will receive friends Friday 11 AM until time of service.
