WHITENER, WANDA MAE, age 95 of Pontiac, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. She was born on October 23, 1925 in McGee, Missouri to parents George and Emma Kimmel. Wanda was a faithful member of Grace and Peace United Methodist Church where she started Coats for Kids, a charity that was responsible for providing coats to countless children throughout Pontiac. Though she dedicated much of her time to her community, her biggest accomplishment was always her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Wanda is survived by her five sons: William (Linda) Whitener, Charles (Billie) Whitener, Stephen Whitener, Dennis Whitener, and Paul (Mary) Whitener; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. She was preceded in death by both parents; all five of her siblings; and one grandson. A funeral service will take place at 1pm on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at COATS FUNERAL HOME – CLARKSTON. Pastor Rosaline Green officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 4-8pm. Private interment at Ottawa Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Wanda would prefer a cash or coat donation to Coats for Kids - Grace and Peace United Methodist Church (451 W. Kennett Rd., Pontiac, MI 48340) – donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
