Timothy Hepfinger Obituary

Timothy Russell Hepfinger, a devoted father, grandfather, and skilled craftsman, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, and deep love for his family.

A talented roofer and carpenter, Tim owned and operated his own roofing business for more than 15 years. Through his work, he not only built roofs and homes, but also earned the respect of those who knew him for his dedication, reliability, and pride in a job well done.

He was a constant and active presence in his daughter's lives. He coached on their baseball teams, volunteered passionately as an umpire for local games, and lent his creativity and skill to their youth theater productions by helping design and build sets. Whether on the field or behind the scenes, he showed up fully and gave his time and energy with care and enthusiasm.

Tim is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Katie Hepfinger (Joel Conroy) and Missy Nienhaus (Dan), and by his two grandchildren, Oliver Nienhaus and Hazel Nienhaus, who brought him immense pride and joy. His family was at the center of his life, and he cared for them with a big heart and unwavering love.

He had a great sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him, even trying his hand at stand-up comedy in the Oakland County area. He was also an avid sports fan, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit teams, and the Boston Red Sox. In quieter moments, he enjoyed spending time with animals and tending to his garden.

He was also deeply committed to helping others, finding purpose in his involvement with Alcoholics Anonymous and speaking at rehabilitation centers, where he shared his experiences to support and encourage those on their own paths to recovery.

He will be remembered as an intelligent, hardworking man who loved deeply, gave freely, and made a lasting impact on those around him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he cherished.

A poem he held close to his heart, shared with his children and grandchildren, reflects the love he carried for them:

“This house is built with love, built straight from the heart.

From foundation to roof top, love fills every part.

So back to work he goes, there’s so much to prepare,

for one day he knows, his family will be together again, all gathered there.”

A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Details will be shared with family and friends as they become available.
