Thomas Clark III Obituary

Thomas Judson Clark III, age 68, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026. Born on October 19, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan, Tom lived a full and meaningful life defined by faith, devotion to his family, hard work, and dedication to those he loved. His early years were spent in Livonia, Michigan, Florida, and West Bloomfield, Michigan prior to building a life with his cherished wife, Anita, in White Lake, Michigan. From a young age, Tom was known for his strong work ethic, often working multiple jobs at once as a teenager and college student. He graduated from West Bloomfield High School and went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Wayne State University. His career as a Project Manager spanned over 30 years and he was respected for his dedication and professionalism. Tom had an adventurous spirit. As a young man, he once backpacked through Alaska, staying in rustic homes, volunteering his time, and even helping to build a trail—an experience that reflected his curiosity and the joy he found in connecting with others. He was proud that his family lineage could be traced back to the Mayflower and the Revolutionary War. He met the love of his life, Anita, while working at St. Joseph Hospital in 1982 and they were married on October 14, 1988, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two cherished children. Above all, Tom was a devoted family man. He always put his family first and took immense pride in being a husband, father, and soon-to-be grandfather. His heart was full when he learned of his son’s engagement and his daughter’s joyful news that he would soon welcome a grandchild. There was nothing that brought him more joy than to have his entire family together, whether it was a quiet evening at home or on vacation in Mackinac or Florida – some of his favorite places. A man of deep and steadfast faith, Tom carried his beliefs throughout his life and instilled them in his children. In his later years, his faith grew even stronger, finding comfort and strength in scripture, especially Joshua 1:9. He and Anita shared eight meaningful years in a Bible study group that brought them great joy and spiritual fulfillment. Tom also had a playful and joyful side. He loved playing cards, especially euchre with friends, and he was known as a bit of a prankster, always leaving little surprises to make his family smile. His sense of humor and warmth touched everyone who knew him. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Anita Marie Clark; his children, Nicole (Taylor) Newton and Jordan Clark (fiancée Savannah Hipp); his siblings, Robert (Karen) Clark and Lori Ann (Timothy) Harrington; several nieces and nephews whom he loved, and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lorraine Clark.

His family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the University of Michigan Hospital for their compassionate care and for allowing Tom such precious final memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Tom’s memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at https://donate.lls.org/ltn/donate.
