Theo "Ted" Carlson Obituary

CARLSON, THEO KARL “TED”, age 87 of Waterford, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022. He was born on February 28, 1935 in Pontiac to parents Theodore and Norma (Aldridge) Carlson. Ted served in the US Army, in Wurzburg, Germany, from 1957-1959. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked for 40 years in the Printing industry. He played baseball and football at Pontiac Central High School and remained an avid sports fan, especially of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings, throughout his life. Ted enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading mystery/thriller novels and playing pinochle with his card club. He also enjoyed music. He was the world’s biggest Frank Sinatra fan and was lucky enough to have met him. He was a very detailed orientated man, which could be seen in how immaculate his yard was kept. After working in the yard Ted would give himself what he called a RE-ward – a beer or a Scotch neat, and perhaps a snack to feed his endless appetite. Ted is survived by his loving daughter, Cara Carlson; honorary son, David Borovoy; nieces and nephews: Rick (Jane) Carlson, Darla Carlson, Kathy Carlson, Gayla (the late Ron) Pijanowski, Steve (Martha) Smith, Marty Smith, Curt (Penny) Smith, Rhonda Rachar; Stephanie (Scott) Robertson, Mark (Laura Morales) Bell, Andrea (Jim Powers) Barron, great nieces and nephews: Tyler Robertson, Riley Robertson, Kendall Robertson, Kye Snodsmith, Jackson Fraley, Samuel Stepinski, Luna Bell, and Lucas Bell; cousin: Dee (Charles Bachi) Moreno; brother in law, Florentino “Joe” (Sheila) Barron; sister in law, Virginia (the late Mike) Bell; special friends: Judy (AJ) Goll, Yolanda (Bill) Chapa, Greg Mooney, and John (Alice) Batzloff. He was preceded in death by both parents; wife of 56 years, Dolores Carlson; siblings: John “Jack” (the late Jeanette) Carlson, Eleanor (the late Donald) Rachar, and Dale (the late Pauline) Carlson; aunt and uncle in law: Clara and Manuel Moreno; niece, Lisa Snodsmith; nephew, Guy Smith. A memorial mass will be held at 11am on Monday, May 16, 2022 at St. Perpetua Catholic Church (134 Airport Rd., Waterford). A memorial visitation will take place on Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 6-8pm at COATS FUNERAL HOME – WATERFORD. Burial at Great Lakes at 1:30.
