Susan James Obituary

Susan Kay James, lovingly known as “Sue,” of Waterford, passed away on April 30, 2025, at the age of 75 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Through every challenge, she showed remarkable strength, grace, and resilience. Sue was born on September 18, 1949, in Pontiac, Michigan, to her devoted parents Robert Charles Adsit and Dorothy May Adsit (née Degiaconio). A proud graduate of Waterford Township High School, Class of 1967, Sue lived a life full of laughter, compassion, and community.

A spirited and social soul, Sue was a fantastic and fun bartender, serving at the Eagles Club, the American Legion, and the Penalty Box. In addition to her bar work, she owned and operated her own cleaning business. Sue was always looking after others. Whether volunteering her time, making delicious food or crafting thoughtful gifts, she led with generosity and kindness. She had a flair for fun—dancing, gambling, laughing, and socializing were among her favorite pastimes.

Sue and the love of her life, Morris “Bob” Redick, shared many years of joy and love together. Their story began through shared friends and blossomed over time, with many special memories made whether at one of the many social clubs they belonged to, motorcycle rides, cruising Woodward, traveling, volunteering.

Family meant the world to Sue. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by her beloved children: Wayne (Laura) James, Lori James, Jenise Jaikins, and Michelle Barber; cherished grandchildren: Jeannie, Christopher, Heather, Nicholas, William, Juliana, Justin, Katelyn, and Madelyn; and her great-granddaughter, Cheyenne. Along with all of her nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loving sister Kathy (Spiros) Mellas. Sue was preceded in death by her soulmate, Morris “Bob” Redick, her brother Bob Adsit, and Bob’s son, Scott Redick. Known for her joyful sayings like “Oh la la!” and her ever-present smile, Sue's memory will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.

Family welcomes you to join them in a Celebration of Life Party on May 31st @ 4pm. Campbell-Richmond Post 63, 8047 Ortonville Road, Clarkston, Michigan 48348
