Sherry Elaine Forrester, age 77, passed away on April 6, 2026. She was born on October 23, 1948, in Harvey, Illinois, to Walter Sowers and Madge Madeline Sowers (née Corzine).Sherry attended school in Illinois and later graduated from Tinley Park High School in Tinley Park, Illinois. Sherry married Carl W. Forrester who served his country in the Vietnam War. Sherry was strong willed, independent and had a never give up attitude. She was known as a strong, devoted, and resilient parent who provided unwavering support and love to her parents and children. Sherry dedicated over 20+ years of her career to working at Children’s Village Juvenile Home in Oakland County, where she made a lasting impact before retiring. When the boys were younger she had a passion for cooking and was known for preparing wonderful meals. She also took great pride in caring for her outdoor flowers. Sherry loved jewelry, had a sharp sense of humor, and brought laughter to those around her. Sherry enjoyed watching Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers games and rarely missed an opportunity to attend a sporting event with the family. Sherry loved to be the fun grandmother with late night games of aggravation , nerf gun war or a random late doughnut run. She was also a dedicated caregiver, lovingly tending to both of her parents until the end of their lives. Sherry lived boldly, often embracing her personal motto: “the bigger, the better.” She is survived by her children, Jeremy Forrester and Eric Forrester; her cherished grandchildren, Travis, Crystal, Neil, Marty, Megan, and Matt and great-grandchildren, Jaiden and Logan. Her brother, James Sowers and a Loving Aunt to Jon, Tracy, and David. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ramona “Bunnie” (Gene) Ciastko. Inurnment will take place at Meisenheimer Cemetery in Dongola, Illinois.
