Shelbia Jean Lovell

Shelbia Jean Lovell of Clarkston, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, at the age of 84.

Born on November 10, 1940, Shelbia lived a life filled with compassion, strength, and a deep devotion to her family and community. She was married to the late Robert Lee Lovell for 38 wonderful years after the two met during a night of bowling — a pastime that sparked not just a shared love, but a lifelong partnership.

Shelbia was the proud mother of two children: Cathy (Michael) Krupp and the late Richard Alan Hudak. She was a loving grandmother to Loren Jean Krupp and a cherished great-grandmother to Sabastian Warman, Norman Demski, Orson Hofmann, Richard Hofmann, Llewellyn Parsons, and one more great-grandchild soon to arrive. Her love for family was evident in every part of her life.

She is survived by her sister, Ardeen Hunt, and preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Callahan and Raymond Callahan.

Professionally, Shelbia dedicated over 30 years of service to Oakland University, where her hard work and warm spirit made a lasting impact on colleagues and students alike. Beyond her career, she mentored children in her community and gave generously of her time to the Bucket of Love program, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping others.

Shelbia had a passion for travel, and especially treasured her trips to Mackinac Island — a place that brought her great joy and peace.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her kindness, resilience, and unwavering love will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

A private service will be held by the family..
