Russell Lee Bowker, of Waterford, Michigan, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and devotion to family. Born on April 25, 1933, in Auburn Heights, Michigan, to Perry and Leona Bowker, Russell was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Ernest and Vera Bowker.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Russell served his country from 1953 to 1955. Following his military service, he worked faithfully for 38 years as a line inspector at Pontiac Motors. His dedication and work ethic were matched only by his deep faith and commitment to his church community.
Russell was a long-time and devoted member of Harvestland Church, where he served as head usher, sang joyfully in the choir, and was an active participant in the Caleb Ministry. He was known for his warm presence and servant’s heart.
Russell enjoyed a variety of pastimes, including bowling, horseshoes, golf, and playing cards. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family.
He is preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Ann; his second wife of 26 years, Jerrie; and his dear friend, Bill Ridley.
Russell will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his children: Mark (Cris) Bowker, April (David) Covey, David (the late Lyndel) Davis, Kathy (James) Ellison, and John (Cheryl) Davis; his grandchildren: Kimberly Ann (Luis), Matthew, Eric (Karly), Jeff (Amanda), Sarah (Mike), Mary Ann (Marcus), Aaron (Alicia), Brian (Taylor), and Emily (Marcus); great-grandchildren: Luis Jr., Luciano, Leilani, Natalie (Stephen), Rieley (Dakota), Becca (Tae), Brandon, Will, Matthew, Grace, Natalie, and Dalton; and his great-great-grandchildren: Kairi, Daelan, Abel, Elaine, Baby Jackson (arriving in August), and Aldon.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Coats Funeral Home – Waterford. A funeral service honoring Russell’s life will take place on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Harvestland Church in Clarkston, Michigan.
Russell’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
