Royal Dean “Roy” House, age 91, passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on October 1, 1934, in Cove, Arkansas, to the late Lettie and Luther House. Roy lived a life defined by devotion—to his family, his country, and the values he held dear.
Roy was the beloved husband of Virgie House, married for 61 years, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Together they raised four wonderful children: Mark, Deborah, Dawn (Dennis), and Heather (Chris). His legacy lives on through his seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, one of whom was already waiting for him in Heaven. Roy was deeply proud of all of his grandchildren and took great joy in watching them grow and follow their own paths. He had a special influence on Ian, whose pursuit of higher education was rooted in faith. Roy helped shape Ian’s faith and inspired his calling into the ministry.
He was raised alongside two siblings, his late brother Ben and his late sister Mildred, who preceded him in death.
Roy proudly served his country as a United States Army Veteran. Following his service, he dedicated 30 years of hard work to Pontiac Motors, retiring with a strong sense of pride and accomplishment.
A man of simple joys and steady routines, Roy loved classic cowboy Westerns, especially those starring John Wayne. He found peace in the outdoors and cherished RV camping trips with his family and his beloved dog, the late Fluff. Gardening was one of his great pleasures, and every year he grew a garden with care and commitment. His lawn was legendary—meticulously maintained and entirely weed-free. Dandelions were not tolerated, and the kids all knew that pulling weeds was non-negotiable.
Roy was known for being a bit of a neat freak, always keeping things orderly, maintained, and just the way they should be. He also had a deep love for classic cars, owning as many as six at one time. His favorite was always his silver 1963 Pontiac Bonneville, a car that reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship, style, and history.
As a father, Roy was intentional about teaching independence. He made sure his children knew how to change their own oil and tires, instilling confidence, self-reliance, and strength that would last a lifetime.
Roy House will be remembered for his work ethic, his quiet discipline, his love for family, and the steady presence he brought to everyone who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, lessons, and lives well lived. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A funeral honoring Roy’s life will take place on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Coats Funeral Home – Waterford. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
