GERDS, ROBERT MELVIN, age 91, of Fenton, formerly of Waterford, passed away September 13, 2021. He was born on February 20, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Herman and Elfreda Gerds (nee Streng). Loving husband of the late Lois; dear father of Linda (Mike) Cornell, Nancy (Bruce) Johnson and Rob (Jannie) Gerds; proud grandfather of Nick (Brittany) Cornell, Katie (Tucker) Burnum, Maddie Cornell, Meghan Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Mackenzie Johnson, Jennel Johnson-Pendleton and Brett Johnson; great grandfather of Icie Belle and Ford; brother of Betty (Frank) Swartz. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Bob worked for the city of Pontiac for many years as a building inspector and then as a City Administrator for Inspection Services. He was a faithful and devoted member of Good Samaritan Church in Pontiac. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf and spending his winters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 24, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Good Samaritan Church, 517 W. Walton Blvd., Pontiac. Attendees will be required to wear masks. Inurnment Ottawa Park Cemetery in Clarkston, Michigan. Memorial donations in Bob’s name may be made to Habitat for Humanity or the Wounded Warrior Project.
