Richard Harris Joyce, of Waterford, passed away in his home on January 15, 2025, at 75 years of age. He was born on December 31, 1949, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, to parents John and Ruth Joyce (nee Harris). After he graduated from New Brunswick High School, he went on to receive his bachelor’s in education from The College Of New Jersey, formerly known as Trenton State University. Throughout his life, he was a teacher, then ventured into sales in the cruise industry. He also worked at Gander Mountain and Bass Pro Shop. While working at the travel agency, he met the love of his life, Eileen, who also worked there, and they married in August of 1979. In the beginning of their marriage they spent their time traveling the world together. Together, they had two daughters, for which he coached both girls’ softball teams through grade school. In his younger years, Richard was a talented soccer player which led him to play in the semi pro league. He enjoyed any outdoor sport; horseback riding, skiing, hunting and fishing, as well as camping. He was an avid shooter and later in life, he was passionate about competitive shooting, competing as a Wolverine Ranger in the SASS organization. Richard leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Eileen Joyce (nee MacKenzie); two daughters, Danielle (Trevor Taylor) Joyce and Jackie (Justin) Sylvester; and his brother, Doug (Liesha) Joyce. He was preceded in death by his parents. Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
