Richard Walter Bachynsky

BACHYNSKY, RICHARD WALTER, 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Flushing, Michigan, on November 20, 2024. Devoted husband to Jennifer (née Doud), with whom he shared a beautiful ten years of marriage. Richard was a cherished father to Erik (Deanna) Bachynsky, Laura (Bradley) Dalrymple, and Daniel Bachynsky. Grandfather “Dido” to his beloved grandson, Callum Richard Dalrymple. Richard also leaves his stepchildren, Christopher (Ashley) Compagnoni and Katlyn (Brandon) Hull. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Maria Bachynsky as well has his sister, Mary (George) Zahrebelny.

Born in Windsor, Ontario, Richard was an active member of the Ukrainian community. He carved a remarkable career as an international consultant, environmentalist, writer, and hockey coach. His dedication to his family was exemplified by the many decades he served as a primary caregiver for his parents. A man of extraordinary generosity, Richard always opened his home and heart to neighbors and friends of the community.

Richard brought joy into the lives of those around him with his big heart, humor and his unique perspective on life. He was known for his love of eclectic music, his curiosity in exploring new hobbies, and his adventurous spirit. Richard truly followed the beat of his own drum, embodying a vibrant enthusiasm for life that inspired many. He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 1 PM at Coats Funeral Home in Clarkston, MI. Family will receive friends starting at noon until the time of service. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Clarkston.

Richard's legacy of love and kindness will continue to shine in the hearts of those he touched.
