Rebekah Kohnke- Swoveland Obituary

Rebekah Kohnke-Swoveland, age 53, passed away on March 8, 2026. Born on November 3, 1972, in Grand Haven, Michigan, she was the beloved daughter of the late Larry Michael Kohnke and Faith Audrey Kohnke (née VanLuven).

Rebekah grew up surrounded by family and shared a lifelong bond with her siblings, Rachel Swoveland and Christopher Kohnke. She was a devoted and loving mother to her son, Roger Swoveland, who was the pride and joy of her life.

Family meant everything to Rebekah. She was the fun, unforgettable aunt to Christian (Briana) Swoveland, David (Laura) Kohnke, Sierra (Chad), Nic, and Aaron, and she treasured her role as Great-Aunt to little Leilani. She was also a loyal and cherished friend to Kimil, and life-long childhood friends; Melissa (Mugs) Hutchenson and Hollie Yarborough, whose friendship meant the world to her.

Rebekah dedicated more than 25 years of her career to General Motors, where she was known for her strong work ethic, reliability, and the genuine connections she made with coworkers over the years.

Outside of work, Rebekah embraced the simple joys of life. She loved music, found peace in gardening, and expressed her creativity through crocheting. She had a special talent for finding hidden treasures while thrifting—earning her the affectionate title of “thrifting queen” among those who knew her best.

Those who knew Rebekah will remember her as a straight-shooter; honest, spirited, and never afraid to speak her mind, but always with a big heart behind her words. She had a unique ability to make people laugh, feel welcomed, and know they were cared for.

Rebekah’s warmth, humor, and love for her family and friends will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.

A visitation honoring Rebekah’s life will take place on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a time for sharing beginning at 3:00 p.m., at Coats Funeral Home – Clarkston. Interment will take place on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Ottawa Park Cemetery in Clarkston.
