Raymond "Ray" Williams

WILLIAMS, RAYMOND “Ray”, age 69, of Waterford, passed away peacefully after a year of bravely battling several health conditions on May 13, 2022, at St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac, MI. He was born August 5, 1952, in Harlem hospital New York City, NY. He is preceded in death by his mother Pearl (Williams) Blackman and brother Russell Blackman. He is survived by many loving cousins, his wife Lynette Trese-Williams, nieces and nephews, and many in-laws. In 1970, Ray graduated from Haaren High School in the Bronx, NY. After high school, Ray received his associates degree in 1971, then went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force. He first worked in electronic communications and served in Vietnam. Later he worked in the public affairs until he retired in 1993 as a MSgt after 22 years of dedicated service.  After retiring, he moved to Michigan and he and Lynette married September 29, 2007. They lived happily in Waterford, Michigan. Ray was a kind, gentle, and loving husband, uncle, and brother-in-law. Ray joined Eckankar, a religious and spiritual organization in 1978 and he served as the book materials coordinator for the Michigan chapter. He survived a spinal cord injury in 1998, which slowed him down but did not stop him from enjoying life. He loved listening to and sharing his love of contemporary jazz music. He enjoyed watching movies, playing spades on-line, and keeping up with the news and politics of the day. A memorial service will be Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 2:30 PM at COATS FUNERAL HOME – CLARKSTON (8909 Dixie Hwy). Family will receive guests from 1 until the time of service.
