ALTEMANN, PHYLLIS J. of Waterford, passed away July 19, 2024, at 97 years of age. Loving wife of the late Arnold “Bud” Altemann; dear mother of Chris (the late Sandra) Altemann, Mark (Laura) Altemann, Cathy (Edward) Driller, Sharon (John) Boehme, and, Alan (Dawn) Altemann; grandmother of 10; great grandmother of 13. Phyllis was born November 13, 1926, to Roy and Lena (née Staup) Grimm in Phoneton, Ohio. At age 8, her family moved to Michigan and in 1944 she graduated from Pontiac High School. In 1948 she married the love of her life, Bud, and spent 58 years together until Bud’s death in 2006. Phyllis worked for 15 years at Minnesota Fabrics. She was an avid quilter, sewer, knitter, and crocheter. Phyllis was a member of St. Trinity Lutheran Church in Clarkston for over 73 years. She was the last Altemann family member of the “Greatest Generation.” She will be forever missed. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 11 AM before the funeral. Funeral service will be Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 11 AM at St. Trinity Lutheran Church 7925 Sashabaw Rd, Clarkston. Burial follows in Crescent Hills Cemetery, Waterford. Family will receive friends Wednesday 4-8 PM at COATS FUNERAL HOME- WATERFORD. There will be a luncheon at St. Trinity following the burial at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either of these organizations at St. Trinity Lutheran Church: The Endowment Fund or The Quilting Guild.
