VIDLUND, PAULA A., of Waterford, passed away on July 4, 2026, at 67 years of age.
Born in Pontiac to her loving parents, Robert H. and Emma L. (née Miller) Vidlund, Paula was preceded in death by both of her parents, her brother, Peter Vidlund, and her sister, Patti Amshay.
She was the cherished aunt of Aaron (Jamie) Amshay, Adam (Jessica) Amshay, Jill Vidlund, Jennifer Vidlund, and Lisa Villella, and the proud great-aunt of Logan, Kenadee, Payton, Raegan, Hayden, Jace, Finley, Brooklyn, Hunter, Kayden, and Paige, and great great aunt of Dyna. She also leaves behind her devoted dog, Lola, who was her constant companion, as well as special family friends DeAnn, Dan, and Grace.
Paula retired from General Motors after an impressive 40 years of dedicated service. She was respected for her strong work ethic and formed many lifelong friendships throughout her career.
Kindhearted, generous, and with just the right amount of spice, Paula had a gift for making people feel special. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or holiday, always taking the time to celebrate the people she loved with thoughtful cards, gifts, and homemade treats.
Christmas was, without question, her favorite time of year. For Paula, there was no such thing as "too much Christmas." She transformed her home into a holiday wonderland, often decorating as many as three Christmas trees, adorning every room with festive décor, and making sure the outside of the house sparkled just as brightly. Every corner of her home reflected the joy she found in the season.
An avid baker, Paula's Christmas cookies became a treasured tradition for family and friends, and no birthday was complete without one of her special homemade cakes. She found great happiness in creating moments that brought smiles to others. In her free time, Paula enjoyed reading, trips to North Carolina golfing, and faithfully cheering on her beloved Detroit Lions through every season. She also treasured the many friendships she built over the years, whether meeting "Coney Gang" for breakfast or gathering with her General Motors coworkers. The laughter, conversations, and camaraderie she shared with those friends were among life's greatest joys.
Paula will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of family and friends, her unforgettable Christmas spirit, and the kindness she extended to everyone she met. Her warmth, humor, and thoughtfulness will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all whose lives she touched. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 11 AM at COATS FUNERAL HOME-WATERFORD. Burial follows at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy. Family will receive friends Monday 4-8 PM.
