Patricia Louise (Jones) Newlin

Patricia L. “Pat” Newlin of Clarkston, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at 95 years of age.

Beloved mother of Richard “Dick” (Dr. Gail Wang) Newlin, Carol (Bruce) Allen, and Craig (Tammy) Newlin; cherished grandmother of Jennifer (Seth), Paul (Jackie), Parker, Blake, and Chase; proud great-grandmother of Aubrey; and aunt to one niece and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Darrell Jones, Shirley Swanson, and Elaine McFall.

Born in Flint, Michigan, to Emery and Louise (née Geigling) Jones, Pat graduated from Pontiac High School in 1949. A hardworking and energetic woman, she devoted 25 years of service to Waterford Township retiring in 1995, in addition, she overlapped her last 5 years at the township working at Bogie Lake Greenhouse and retired in 2015 after 25 years. She was also actively involved in the Clarkston Jaycettes which she took great pride in.

Pat's talents and interests were as numerous as the lives she touched. She loved reading, gardening, knitting, crocheting, and camping. A woman of refined tastes, she had a deep appreciation for music and the arts. Her home was often filled with the sounds of Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Bach, Chopin, and Mozart, along with the works of American composer Aaron Copland. For pure enjoyment, she delighted in the lively polkas and waltzes of Johann Strauss. Music was the backdrop to much of her life and could often be heard while she lovingly prepared meals and baked treats, generously sharing them with family, friends, and neighbors. She especially loved the colorful and whimsical needle work her sister did of her favorite artist, Ted DeGrazia. Whether enjoying beautiful music, admiring art, or preparing a meal for someone she loved, Pat embraced life with grace, creativity, and joy.

Pat had a wonderful sense of humor and was famous for her clever one-liners, usually delivered quietly in conversation rather than to a crowd. She also had a gift for letter writing, taking the time to thoughtfully stay connected with those she loved through handwritten notes and correspondence.

Lighthearted, fun, and full of joy, Pat possessed a gentle warmth that made others feel welcome and cherished. Her family and friends will forever treasure the laughter, kindness, wisdom, and love she brought into their lives and comforted in the knowledge that she is reunited with her cats who were her constant companions for 30 years. The light she shined on all who knew her will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will continue to brighten their hearts for generations to come. Family will receive friends Monday, June 8, 2026 from 4-7 PM at COATS FUNERAL HOME-CLARKSTON, 8909 Dixie Hwy.
