To Live a Life: by Richard Bauerle
The meaning of a song is in the singing.
The meaning of a dance is in the dancing.
The meaning of a game is in the playing.
So let's sing, let's dance, let's play.
The meaning of a life is in the living.
Pat Lange lived a life complete with meaning. Although she couldn't carry a tune, Pat loved to sing and whistle along with the radio. When the lyrics weren't clear, she would make up her own silly lines. Playing games of all sorts with family and friends brought out the fierce competitor in her. She had been known to make her grandchildren cry over Monopoly. Euchre and pinochle parties involved friends, drinks, and laughter. Yet most people will probably remember Pat from her love of dance. There wasn't a song Pat would not dance to. After learning ballroom dancing and swing dance, others would stand back and watch as she and her partner took over the dance floor. Even after PCA (a rare form of dementia) took her sight, she could be found on the arm of an aide, shaking her booty through the halls of the nursing home. To say she lived a life is like saying the ocean is large. She loved her family and friends because they were her life. She loved and was loved.
Pat is survived by her four children Mark (Pam) Jewell, Shellie (Mike) Kent, Lisa (Marty) Grennier, and Chris (Tracey) Jewell. Her grandchildren are Steve, Jackie, Stephanie, Jameson, LeeAnne, Spencer, Jewell, Taylor, Bella, Liz, and Braylon. Her great-grandchildren are Jaxson, Logan, Olivia, Hadley, Benjamin, and Jonas. Her sister is Cindy (Bob) McCance She also was loved by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Shirley Smith, sister Diane and brother-in-law Lyle Cooper, cousins Vic and Marge Sullivan, and by her ex-husbands.
