Nick Hughes Obituary

Nick Hughes, 34, of Hemlock, Michigan, passed away suddenly on March 30, 2025. He was born on June 9, 1990, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Tracy Henson and Robert Hughes, and spent most of his life in Waterford before settling in Hemlock.

Nick was an extraordinary bowler, known for his skill, competitive spirit, and love for the game. While living in Waterford, he bowled in a locally sponsored league with friends, achieving an astonishing eight perfect 300 games. Never one to miss an opportunity to share a great bowling story, he took immense pride in every frame he played.

On February 20, 2025, they eloped in an intimate ceremony inside a beautiful greenhouse under the night sky—a moment of pure happiness that neither had ever known before.

After moving to Hemlock, Nick and Allyson began the journey of transforming their house into a dream home, one project at a time. Nick credited his handyman skills to his stepfather, Mike, whom he saw as a true father figure and mentor. From home renovations to life’s challenges, Mike taught him not only how to build but also how to be a strong, dependable man.

Beyond bowling, Nick developed a deep love for golf, always on the hunt for the earliest tee time with his closest friend. He also found joy in cooking, especially hosting large gatherings—Thanksgiving was his favorite, and he prided himself on making the perfect turkey.

Above all, Nick was a devoted husband, father, son, and friend. He adored Allyson, always putting her needs first, making her life easier in every way he could. He supported all of her "old lady hobbies," teasing her playfully while ensuring she had everything she needed to enjoy them. Their love was effortless, built on laughter, care, and unwavering devotion.

As a father, Nick was incredible with his two sons, Kaden and Lucas. Whether they were following him around the yard with their toy lawn mowers or pretending to play video games with their fake controllers, he made sure they were part of everything he did. Allyson and their children were his entire world, and his happiest moments were the quiet ones spent curled up at home with them.

Nick’s best friend was his mother, Tracy. They were thick as thieves, communicating in movie quotes and song lyrics, sharing an unbreakable bond. No matter the time, Nick would call his mom with random questions, knowing that between her and Mike, they had all the answers. Whenever he was in doubt, he called Mom.

Nick will be remembered as the most dependable man you could ever meet. Always willing to drop everything to help a friend, he was selfless, loving, and steadfast—a person you could always count on.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Allyson Hughes; sons, Kaden and Lucas Hughes; parents, Tracy (Mike) Henson and Robert Hughes; grandmother, Linda (John) Garris; 14 brothers and sisters; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dean "Papa" Garris, and his paternal grandparents.
