Mary Louise Musiel Obituary

Mary Louise Musiel, affectionately known as Mary Lou, of Waterford, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on October 31, 1929, in Lapeer, Michigan, Mary Lou was raised with love and care by her beloved grandparents, Helen and Frank Stine.

A proud graduate of North Branch High School, Class of 1948, Mary Lou was a cheerleader and a spirited young woman who brought joy to everyone around her. Fate stepped in when, in need of a ride home, Mary Lou met Edward Frank Musiel—recently returned from serving his country in the United States Navy—through his brother Ted. A beautiful love story began, and on May 14, 1950, Mary Lou and Edward were married. Together, they built a loving home and a devoted family. Edward went off to work each day while Mary Lou dedicated herself to raising their children and creating a warm, nurturing environment filled with love, laughter, and faith. Mary Lou had a generous heart and a passion for serving others, especially the youth in her community. She was deeply involved in organizations such as Parents Without Partners and the Latchkey Kids Program, often dressing up and entertaining children with balloon animals and other fun activities. She also gave her time and energy to 4-H and the Girl Scouts of Oakland County, always striving to enrich the lives of young people around her. A woman of unwavering faith, Mary Lou was a dedicated member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Waterford. Her belief in God was the foundation of her life and a source of strength through joyful and challenging times alike. One of her fondest memories was attending the 25th Anniversary of the Lawrence Welk Orchestra in 1975 with her husband Edward, a gift from their daughter Yvonne. Mary Lou had a lifelong love of reading, especially historical and non-fiction books. In later years, when reading became difficult, she transitioned to audiobooks to continue her learning and exploration.

Mary Lou is survived by her loving children: Anne Hill, Yvonne (Gordon) Scheerer, Ed (Mary) Musiel, and Angela (David Gunter) Musiel; grandchildren: Michelle Hill, Austin Scheerer, and  Bohden Musiel, step grandchildren Shelby Caruso and Wesley Caruso; and siblings: Joan (Charles) Shawback. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 27 years, Edward Frank Musiel; her cherished grandson, Tymon Musiel; and mother Mary Lamoreaux and siblings Jean Lamoreaux, Dale (Linda) Lamoreaux, Donald Lamoreaux, and Louise (Richard) Teal.,
