Martin Charles Vespie

Martin Charles Vespie, age 65, of Waterford passed away unexpectedly at his home. Martin was born July 15, 1960, in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of Ernest Martin and Margaret Evangeline (Smades) Vespie. Martin was raised in Oakland County and spent his childhood known as “the local bike mechanic”. Martin met and married the love of his life, Janet Marie Lawton, on October 6, 1995 at the Victorian Wedding Chapel in Waterford. Martin was employed as a bus driver for Waterford Public Schools for over ten years. Martin enjoyed working on anything automotive. He had an uncanny knack for knowing exactly what was wrong with moving parts.

Martin will be missed by his wife, Janet Marie Vespie; children, Stan (Rochelle) Vespie of Richardson, MI, Stephanie Grimaldi of Lithia, Florida, Ernest Vespie and Martin “Thomas” Vespie, both of Waterford; grandchildren, Elaina, Isabella, and Gabriella; one brother, David (Cheryl) Vespie of Mena, Arkansas.

Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Margaret Vespie; and his grandparents.

A Visitation for Martin has been scheduled on Thursday, August 21st, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at Coats Funeral Home in Waterford, MI. Memorial Contributions in his memory may be made payable to the family.
