Marilyn Carmean Obituary

Marilyn J. Carmean; dedicated mother, cherished grandmother (“Grammy”), proud great grandmother, loving sister, aunt, and friend; peacefully passed away on April 20, 2025. Marilyn was born in Pontiac, Michigan on June 4, 1946, to Eugene and Aileen Moody, and she made Michigan her lifetime home for her and her three boys. Her life's journey was marked by hard work and unwavering love for her family.

Marilyn wore many hats during her lifetime: she was an Army wife, a long-term EDS employee (serving over 20 years), as well as a diligent apartment facility manager and compassionate caregiver, however her most significant role was that of a loving grandmother. For countless years, Marilyn lovingly spoiled and adored her six (6) grandchildren ~ Nikkolas, Alison, Samantha, Jessica, Alexandra and Katherine, which left an indelible mark on their lives. Her grandchildren were blessed with the opportunity to cultivate a deeply meaningful connection with her, and each forged a profound and enduring bond that will forever be cherished by her family.

In the late 1970’s, Marilyn and her boys made Waterford, Michigan their home where she attended every football game, every baseball game, and every wrestling match – she absolutely reveled in the job title of “Mom”. Her boys were her joy, and as her boys grew, she celebrated in the very close relationships she held with each of her daughters-in-law. This was her happy place; they were her happy place.

Marilyn was fiercely independent, rarely asking for help (and was known, on occasion, to threaten a smack with a wooden spoon if you tried to help!). She was strong, resilient and lovingly stubborn, which she said came from being one of six siblings, who she missed dearly, and it brings great joy knowing they all have been reunited.

Marilyn is survived by her beloved sons: Bill (Lisa) Carmean, Mike (Denise) Carmean and Dave (Chris) Carmean; her grandchildren, Alison (Peter) Beaudoin, Sam Carmean (Dustin VanMeter), Jessica Carmean (Nick Bouren), Lexi Carmean and Kati Carmean and her precious great grandchild, Calliope (“Callie”) VanMeter.

Above all, Marilyn was a kind and compassionate soul, with a heart overflowing with love for her family. Her unwavering devotion to them was a shining example for all who were touched by her love and grace.
