Margaret Stella Dodis

Margaret Stella Dodis, a resident of Ortonville, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024. Born in Detroit, Michigan on April 23, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Stella Elizabeth Jance (nee Paraska). Margaret was the beloved spouse of Michael V. Dodis for 65 wonderful years. She was the cherished mother of Jeff Dodis and Jim (Lisa) Dodis, proud grandmother of Lindsey, Nicholas (Lorina), Abigail (fiancé Ryan), Grace, and great-grandmother of Lorelei and Iyah. Margaret was also the dearest sister of the late Richard, best friend of Kathy Bowl, and adored by her many fur babies.

Margaret graduated from Commerce High School in 1958. She met the love of her life, Michael, while shopping for shoes in Detroit. A week later, they went on a memorable movie and dinner date at the Fox Theatre. They married in 1959 and embarked on building a beautiful family together. In her leisure time, Margaret passionately raised golden retrievers and operated her own business, Sugar Bear Kennels, where her dogs achieved championship status and were beloved by professional athletes. She had a deep love for all animals, including her cherished cats. Margaret possessed a green thumb and was known for her compassionate nature towards both people and animals alike.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, June 28, 2024, from 2-6 PM at Coats Funeral Home – Clarkston (8909 Dixie Hwy).Margaret Stella Dodis will be fondly remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and animals. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
