Lawrence “Larry” Allen Crabtree, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on November 2, 1945, in Clyde, Michigan, Larry was the cherished son of Wilva Lurene (nee Ford) and Charles Thomas Crabtree. Larry’s journey took a meaningful turn when he met Betty, the love of his life. Betty, certain from the start that Larry was her soulmate, truly embodied the essence of love at first sight. They were united in marriage on April 10, 1965, and shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. Larry and Betty raised six wonderful children. Larry is survived by his six children: Shelly (Brock) Kvamme, Lorrie (Derek) Umstead, Angie (Melissa) Allport, Michelle (Steve) Hylla, Brian Crabtree, and Teresa (Fiancé Tenesa Smith) Crabtree. Larry dedicated over 30 years of his life to his career in the auto body industry. His skills and dedication to his work were a testament to his character and commitment. Outside of work, Larry was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting deer, fishing, and playing cards. Larry was a gifted guitarist; his musical talents were also a source of joy. Larry was feisty and competitive nature. His spirited personality and unwavering determination will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

He was a proud grandfather to Bradley (Chelsea) Tosto, Heather (Mike) Doerfler, Lindsey (Nolan) Lehman, Dwayne Metcalf, Kaye (Dylan) Richard, Stephanie Flores, Jennifer (Steven Curry) Hylla, and Adriana (Ana Lowe) Crabtree. Larry was a beloved great-grandfather, and also survived by many other family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 10 AM at Coats Funeral Home – Waterford (3141 Sashabaw). The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for final expenses via Venmo at Brian-Crabtree-15 or sent to Brian Crabtree 29430 Leemoor Drive, Southfield, MI 48076
