Larry D. Goforth, age 87, of Clarkston, tragically passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, as the result of a house fire.
Beloved husband of Betty “Sue” Goforth for 24 years. Loving father of Jennifer Evans. Dear stepfather of Curtis (Julie) Carrie and Greg (Suzanne) Sublett, and the late Johnny Carrie. Proud grandfather of three. Cherished brother of Virginia Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Jewell Goforth.
Larry lived a life defined by hard work, resilience, and dedication to his family and country. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Following his service, Larry built a strong work ethic through many roles, including working as a cotton picker in Tigrett, Tennessee, and as an independent liquor hauler. He later dedicated 15 years of service to the U.S. Postal Service as a truck driver, where he was known for his reliability and commitment.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 12:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM at COATS FUNERAL HOME – CLARKSTON, 8909 Dixie Highway. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
