Konstantinos Spiros Demopoulos, known to all as Gus, of Waterford, Michigan. Gus passed away on March 28, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born on January 1, 1943, in the town of Nafpaktos, Greece, to his loving parents, Spiridon Konstantinos and Evanthia Demopoulos (née Alexopoulos). Gus grew up in the beautiful town of Patra, Greece, and in the early 1960s, he and his family made the journey to America, where they settled in Michigan. Gus worked as a foreman in a machine shop before deciding to venture into the restaurant business with his father and brothers. Together, they opened the beloved Grecian Village in Waterford and Clarkston, Michigan, which became a staple of the community for many decades. Their restaurant was a place where memories were made, and the Demopoulos family left an indelible mark on the local culture. Gus met the love of his life, Kimberly, when they were neighbors. Their bond grew over the years, and after years of friendship, they married and shared a beautiful life together for 22 years. They created a wonderful blended family, full of love and joy. A gifted cook, Gus had a passion for good food and often delighted in preparing meals for those he loved. Papou’s spaghetti was the grandchildren’s favorite dish. He was also an avid fisherman and loved spending time at the family cabins, where he enjoyed hunting with family and friends—though he often said the camaraderie was the real reward. Gus was a man who loved to be surrounded by people and shared his life with laughter, love, and memories.
In addition to his family, Gus had a lifelong love of harness racing. He owned horses and some of his horses even won the prestigious races. Gus is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly, of 22 years; his children, John (Alexandra) Demopoulos, Mary (Eric) Schroeder, Spiros (Megumi) Demopoulos, Jason (Tiffany) Demopoulos, Austin (Valerie) Hallmark, and Evan (Tiffany) Hallmark; his cherished grandchildren, Constantinos Demopoulos, George (Katie) Demopoulos, Johneric (Cara) Schroeder, David (Katie) Schroeder, Cameron (Cynthia) Schroeder, Andrew Demopoulos, Constantinos Demopoulos, Lillyana Demopoulos, Kalliah Demopoulos, Kyle Hallmark, Owen Hallmark, Sara Hallmark, Archie Hallmark, and Otto Hallmark; many great grandchildren; his siblings, Thomas (Angela) Demopoulos, Alexander (Litsa) Demopoulos, Christina (Tom) Dzelves and Simon (Annette) Boulos.
