Kevin Jesus Alvarez

Kevin Jesus Alvarez, of Pontiac, age 20, passed away unexpectedly. He was the middle of three boys born on December 12, 2004, to loving parents Jose Manuel Alvarez roque and Marta Perez Hernandez. 

Kevin was an exceptional young man, full of life, talent, and potential. He graduated from Lake Orion High School in 2023, where he excelled in sports, playing soccer, football, and track, and enjoyed basketball with family and friends. His athleticism was matched by his passion for learning. He went on to pursue a degree in pre-medical studies at Oakland University, where he was a sophomore at the time of his passing. Kevin was more than just an athlete; he was a well-rounded individual with a variety of interests. He had a love for writing, penning everything from poetry to reflective thoughts. A self-taught guitarist, Kevin’s musical tastes were wide-ranging, with bands like Deftones finding a special place in his heart. Kevin took his physical and mental health seriously and recently joined MMA, training at Roots in Bloomfield to hone his craft. He was incredibly social, always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it was assisting his big brother José with building a bed frame or offering support to friends and family. His passion for helping others extended to his love of fishing, a hobby that brought him peace. Though young, Kevin developed a strong faith. He grew up attending St. Michael’s Catholic Church, now known as St. Damien of Molokai in Pontiac, where he learned the values that shaped the man he became. In addition to his many talents, Kevin was a tech-savvy young man, working on a website for his family’s tree cutting business. His intellect and drive were evident in everything he did, and he made everyone around him incredibly proud. Kevin will be remembered as a kind, loving, and inspiring young man whose presence brightened the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind both parents José and Marta; his brothers José and Abraham; his God father Leonardo; and many cousins, God brothers, and friends. 

A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 10 AM at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Lake Orion (2700 Waldon Rd). Instate at 9 AM. Family will be receiving guests on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 4-9 PM and Friday, March 21, 2025, from 4-9 PM at Coats Funeral Home – Clarkston (8909 Dixie Hwy). A rosary will be recited on Friday at 7 PM. Burial will follow Saturday’s service at All Saints Cemetery in Waterford, MI.

Kevin Jesús Álvarez, de Pontiac, de 20 años, falleció inesperadamente. Fue el hijo del medio de tres varones nacidos el 12 de diciembre de 2004, de los amorosos padres Jose Manuel Alvarez roque y Marta Perez Hernandez 

Kevin fue un joven excepcional, lleno de vida, talento y potencial. Se graduó de Lake Orion High School en 2023, donde destacó en los deportes, jugando fútbol, fútbol americano, atletismo y disfrutando del baloncesto con su familia y amigos. Su destreza atlética iba de la mano con su pasión por aprender. Continuó sus estudios en la Universidad de Oakland, donde cursaba su segundo año en la carrera de pre-medicina en el momento de su fallecimiento. Kevin era mucho más que un atleta; era una persona integral con una variedad de intereses. Tenía una gran pasión por la escritura, creando desde poesía hasta reflexiones personales. Como guitarrista autodidacta, sus gustos musicales eran diversos, destacándose bandas como Deftones, que ocupaban un lugar especial en su corazón. Kevin también se tomaba muy en serio su salud física y mental, recientemente se unió a la MMA, entrenando en Roots en Bloomfield para perfeccionar su arte. Kevin era increíblemente sociable, siempre dispuesto a tender una mano amiga, ya fuera ayudando a su hermano mayor José en la construcción de una cama o brindando apoyo a sus amigos y familiares. Su pasión por ayudar a los demás también se reflejaba en su amor por la pesca, una actividad que le brindaba paz. Aunque joven, Kevin desarrolló una fe sólida. Creció asistiendo a la Iglesia Católica de San Miguel, hoy conocida como San Damián de Molokai en Pontiac, donde aprendió los valores que lo formaron como la persona que fue. Además de sus múltiples talentos, Kevin era un joven con grandes habilidades tecnológicas, trabajando en un sitio web para el negocio de corte de árboles de su familia. Su intelecto y su dedicación eran evidentes en todo lo que hacía, y su presencia dejó a todos a su alrededor muy orgullosos de él. Kevin será recordado como un joven amable, cariñoso e inspirador, cuya presencia iluminaba las vidas de todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo. Deja atrás a sus padres, José y Marta; sus hermanos José y Abraham; su padrino Leonardo; y muchos primos, hermanos de fe y amigos.  

La misa funeral se celebrará el sábado 22 de marzo de 2025, a las 10 AM en Iglesia Católica de Cristo Redentor - Lake Orion.  La entrada será a las 9 AM. La familia recibirá visitas el jueves 20 de marzo de 2025, de 4-9 PM, y el viernes 21 de marzo de 2025, de 4-9 PM en Coats Funeral Home – Clarkston (8909 Dixie Hwy). El rosario se rezará el viernes a las 7 PM. El entierro tendrá lugar después del servicio del sábado en el Cementerio All Saints en Waterford, MI.
