Karlheinz Lothar Merk, born August 12, 1958, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and deep appreciation for the outdoors.
Karl was the loving and devoted husband of Suzanna Merk, with whom he shared 37 years of marriage filled with partnership, laughter, and unwavering support. He was a proud and caring father to his son, Stephan Merk, who was one of his greatest joys. Karl was also a beloved brother to Marlies (Richard) Najaka, and a cherished member of his extended family; Tom, Andrew, Klare, Rob, and Joe.
A true outdoorsman at heart, Karl found his greatest peace in nature. He loved hunting and fishing, and he especially treasured time spent up North, surrounded by woods and water. Whether boating on a quiet lake, skiing through fresh snow, or simply enjoying the beauty of the outdoors, Karl embraced life with enthusiasm and gratitude. He had a great sense of humor which was infectious.
Above all, Karl was a loving family man. He valued time with those he loved and was always happiest when family was near. His kindness, strength, and steady presence will be remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.
