Karen L. DeRousse, 63, of Waterford, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026. She was born on August 26, 1962, in Pontiac, Michigan, to William M. DeRousse and Barbara DeRousse (née Martin). Karen was a graduate of Waterford Kettering High School and went on to further her education at Macomb Community College, where she earned an Associate Degree in Business. She dedicated 11 years of service as a mailroom clerk at Meadowbrook Insurance in Southfield, Michigan. In her free time, Karen found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved watching the Detroit Tigers, playing Yahtzee and Uno, and getting creative with crafts—especially hook rugs, which she often turned into pillows. Coloring was another favorite pastime. Karen adored her Shih Tzu, Lulu, who was a constant companion and source of comfort. She loved good food, listening to Bob Seger, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Being an aunt was one of her greatest joys, and she cherished her nieces deeply. Karen is survived by her loving mother, Barbara DeRousse; her siblings, Genie (Will) Adkins and Matthew (Jane) DeRousse; and her beloved nieces, Taylor (Marcus) Ziebold and Emily (Andrew Owsianko) DeRousse. She was preceded in death by her father, William M. DeRousse. Family and friends will be received on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Coats Funeral Home – Waterford. A service celebrating Karen’s life will begin at 2:00 PM.
