Julia Cheryl (Kissinger) George

Julia Cheryl George, age 72, of Waterford, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.  Born in Pontiac, Michigan, Julia was the daughter of Warren Kissinger and Sibyl Kissinger (Willey). She was the beloved sister of the late Joseph Kissinger, who is survived by his wife, Daune Kissinger. Julia was married to the late Michael Furney, with whom she shared many cherished years. She was the loving mother of Katie Tillman (Scott Tillman), Karlee Quiroga (Antonio Quiroga Ramirez), and Thaila Figa (Greg Figa), whom she welcomed into her life through her marriage to Charles George (now divorced).

Julia dedicated her career to caring for others as a medical transcriptionist and medical secretary at Pontiac General Hospital. Outside of work, she found joy in music and was a proud member of The Waterford Senior Jammers, where she loved to sing and share her voice with the community. She was also an avid gardener and a devoted animal lover who treasured time spent with her “fur babies.” She leaves behind her adored grandchildren: J. Sanchez, D. Frias, I. Quiroga, M. Tillman, E. Tillman, D. Figa, and M. Figa, all of whom brought her immense pride and happiness.

Julia has been cremated and will be laid to rest at Christian Memorial Cemetery in Rochester, beside her late husband, Michael. A memorial visitation will be held at Grace Chapel Church in Waterford, Michigan, at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 12th, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM and a lite luncheon immediately afterward. The family asks those who attend the service to please wear something bright and colorful in honor of Julia. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL) in Julia’s name—an organization close to her heart.
