CHAVIS, JOSEPH DAVID, age 73, of Waterford, passed away November 18, 2021. He was born on December 18, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan. Loving husband of Cyndi for 30 wonderful years; dear father of Brandy (Rhett) Waddell, Greg Chavis, Victoria Chavis and the late Joseph (the late Michelle) Chavis; proud grandfather of Jaymilee, Autumn, Michael, Ashleigh, JD, Brandon, Christian, Kaydan, Lily and Jacob; great grandfather of Miguel and Polaire; cherished son of Edna and the late Paul Goff; brother of Pearl (the late Dave) Cordell, Danny Bullis, Marvin Eacret, Skip Eacret and the late Leonard Chavis; cousin but like a brother of Bobbi and Guy Burtlaff and Donny and Nancy Goff; son in law of Mary Ann and the late Ray Kozlowski; brother in law of Ed and Audra Kozlowski; uncle of Evan and Abby. A 1965 graduate of Taylor Center High School, Joe joined the military after graduation and was a proud veteran of US Army 10th Calvary Unit in ground surveillance during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service, Armed Service Expeditionary, and Sharpshooter medals. He spent his career as a sales manager for various auto dealerships for over 30 years. In his spare time he enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening, football and his dogs. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, 11:00 AM at COATS FUNERAL HOME-WATERFORD. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the family.
