Jonathan Michael Miner, of Springfield Township, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on October 19th, 2025 at age 50.
For 30 years, Jon proudly served with the Springfield Township Fire Department where he was respected not only for his skill and bravery, but for his humility and compassion. Jon dedicated his life to serving others—as a firefighter, a friend, and a cherished member of his community. Known for his heart of gold, he never hesitated to lend a helping hand; whether rushing into danger to protect others or quietly supporting a neighbor in need. His courage was matched only by his kindness, and his passion for helping others was felt by everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He lived every day with kindness, courage, and a deep passion for helping others. As a firefighter he put his life on the line for people he’d never met, and as a friend, neighbor, and family member, he never hesitated to drop everything to help someone in need. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back—and then ask if you needed anything else.
Beyond the uniform, Jon was a devoted husband/father/son/brother/friend, whose laughter could fill a room and whose presence made everyone feel seen and valued. He found joy in camping, his extravagant fireworks shows, and his love for his family who were the light of his life.
He is survived by his wife Deena; his children Austin (Claire), Bailey (BayLee), Kayla (Cameron), Mackenzie, Henry, Paige, and Eli; his grandchildren Dawson Miner, Eleanor Grant, Nathan Miner, Jacob Barnett-Mann, Ryder Miner, and Baby Girl (coming in 2026); His grandmother Joan Latimer, his mother Kim Sampson, and his 5 siblings; along with the 40 plus foster children he has cared for; as well as his brothers and sisters in the fire service who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. He is preceded in death his grandfather, John Latimer and his father, Michael Miner.
Though our world feels a little dimmer without him, his light will live on in every act of kindness, every helping hand, and every life he touched.
A memorial service to honor Jon’s life and legacy will be held on October 30th, 2025, at The River Church, 8393 E. Holly Rd in Holly, Michigan.
Jon’s life was a testament to selflessness, courage, and love. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to know him—and his legacy of service will never be forgotten.
Rest easy Brother, we will take it from here.
