John Eyman Obituary

John Raymond Eyman, 73, of Waterford Mi.

Born April 30,1951 in Pontiac, Mi, John passed at home surrounded by his wife and daughters after a long battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis on October 25, 2024.

Survived by his wife Kathryn; Daughters Jennifer and Carrie (Steve). He was a proud grandfather to Dylan, Arianne, Delaney, Leatha and Jared.

John was the oldest of 7 children and was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Shirley; and siblings Rick and Mary. His surviving brothers and sisters include Jim (Virginia), Kathleen (David), Lynn and Tom. Upon his passing, John joined Norman “Moose”, Margaret and Norm. He is also survived by Mark (Rose), Carol (Mike), Cynndah and many nieces/ nephews and great nieces/ nephews.

Audrey, Ashley, Lillian and Sulivan will always hold a special place in his heart.

John was a devout Catholic and would love to tell the stories of being an altar boy and when he would deliver papers as a boy. If he wasn’t helping others with their projects, he was always tinkering in the garage or around the house in his overalls. He retired from the General Motors Orion plant where he worked for over 30 years.

John loved Detroit sports and loved being a coach. In the 1980’s, he was a defensive line coach for Our Lady of Refuge and the Corsairs pee-wee football. That coach mentality never wavered. He watched every Tigers, Lions and University of Michigan Football game he could. John also attended every sport game his children and grandchildren were in when able. When he couldn’t attend physically anymore a check in was always required after the games.

Our Dad (Papa) set the standard as to what a good provider, husband, father and grandfather should be.

For anyone who knew John, you know he never met a cookie he didn’t like. He was a big fan of ice cream, soda and snacks. Especially ones made from super-secret recipes. Although our brains understand he doesn’t hurt anymore our hearts are devastated.

There will be a memorial visitation November 4, 2024 from 1pm to 6pm. Rosary service to be held at 2pm. Memorial service to be held at 5pm.
