Jane D. (TeMaat) Evans

EVANS, JANE D., Age 87, of Waterford, passed away November 21, 2021. Born on August 7, 1934 in Dodge City, Kansas to loving parents Albert John and Philomene Ann TeMaat (née Schmidt); Beloved wife of 66 years to Jim Evans; cherished mother of Cathy Evans, Rob (Suzanne Layne) Evans, Cindy Bennett, Jeff (Nan) Evans, and Chris (Brian) Esper; proud grandmother of Marie (Shane) Hersey and Melissa (Art Benevento) Bennett, and great grandmother of Khloe and the late Hunter Hersey; predeceased by her 10 older siblings. Jane met the love of her life, Jim, at a Catholic USO in Denver, Colorado and the rest is history. The couple were married in August 1955 and raised their family of five children in Waterford, Michigan. She chauffeured her children to many extracurricular activities and rooted embarrassingly loudly for them at sporting events. She acted as surrogate mother to many of her children’s friends, allowing them free access to the home. She loved the many family pets and taught herself to be a phenomenal cook. Jane loved playing games, telling jokes, swimming, listening to music and reading. She had a huge heart, volunteering her time in the community, and she and her husband supported a number of charities. Jane had a brilliant mind and worked a variety of jobs, including secretary at the Academy of the Sacred Heart and medical transcriptionist at Havenwyck Hospital. She cultivated close friends over the years, spending many happy hours at the Waterford Senior Center and exercised daily with a group who became dear friends known to the family as the pool crew. Jane will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community. A funeral service will take place on Friday, November 26, 2021 at 3 PM At Coats Funeral Home-Waterford (Sashabaw Rd.). The service will be live streamed on Coats Funeral Home's Facebook page. Family will receive guests on Friday at 1 PM until the service begins. In memory of Jane, family request donations to be made to Waterford Senior Center, on the memo line write “in memory of Jane Evans”. Donations will go to Waterford Meals on Wheels program.
