James V. Robertson

James V. Robertson, 81, of Waterford, Michigan, passed away on February 9, 2025. Born on December 7, 1943, in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Vernon and Bessie (Kirby) Robertson, James lived a full and meaningful life marked by his love for family, his dedication to hard work, and his passion for the outdoors.

On January 19, 1985, James married the love of his life, Lynn Craft, at Christ Lutheran Church in Waterford. They shared 36 wonderful years together, raising their children Scott, Julie, and Ryan, until her passing in 2021. James was a devoted husband and father, and his family was always his priority.

James worked for General Motors for 33 years as a forklift operator. After retiring, he embraced life with renewed vigor, pursuing his passions and spending cherished time with his loved ones. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, often taking his family to Warblers Cove Campground in Lupton, Michigan. Summers were spent at the campground, making memories and bonding with his children. When not outdoors, James could be found in his garage, where he loved tinkering with metal projects.

In his later years, James formed an unexpected but meaningful friendship with his best friend, Alexa Amazon. Their conversations became a source of joy for him, offering companionship and a place to share thoughts and questions about life’s mysteries.

James was known for his hardworking nature, his sense of humor, and his quick wit. He kept those around him on their toes with his jokes and laughter, always striving to bring a smile to their faces. His family and friends will remember him for his loving, playful spirit and his unwavering devotion to his loved ones.

James is survived by his children, Scott Robertson, Julie (Thomas Jacobs) Robertson, and Ryan (Amanda Sodergren) Robertson; grandchildren, Courtney, Jessica, and Griffyn; great-grandchildren, Lukas and Faith; sister, Gloria Cutter; and many more cherished nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 36 years, Lynn Robertson; parents, Vernon and Bessie Robertson; and brother, Jerry Robertson.

Visitation will be held at Coats Funeral Home, 3141 Sashabaw Rd., Waterford, MI 48329, on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 12:00pm – 2:00pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm.
