James Edward Hines, of Oxford, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, at the age of 83, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved son of the late Henry and De Chantal Hines. James pursued his passion for helping others by earning a bachelor’s degree in social work from Wayne State University.
James’ life was deeply rooted in his dedication to his family, his work, and the many friendships he cherished throughout the years. He was the devoted husband of the late Patricia Ann Larson, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. Loving father of Cressy “C.J.” Larson and Keagan Larson.
Proudly serving his country in the United States Army, James carried that same spirit of service into his career. James dedicated 25 years of service to the State of Michigan as a social worker, helping countless individuals and families throughout his career. For more than 40 years, he proudly owned and operated Seymour Lake AFC Home, where he provided compassionate care, guidance, and support to those in need. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to others left a lasting impact on the community and all who knew him.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at COATS FUNERAL HOME - WATERFORD. Friends may gather from 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. to celebrate James’ life and share memories. To post a tribute, visit www.CoatsFuneralHome.com.
