Isabelle "Ruth" Conlen

Isabelle “Ruth” Conlen, age 89, of Waterford, passed away on September 13, 2024. Born on February 2, 1935, in Medford, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Leo Joseph and Isabelle Emma (nee Eddy) Donahue. Ruth was the cherished wife of Charles “Chuck” John Conlen Jr. for 65 years. Together, they built a life filled with love and adventure. She was a devoted mother to Sherry Franciosa, Cheryl Conlen, Chuck (Misiel) Conlen and the late Craig Conlen. Her legacy also includes her beloved grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Kidwell, Riley Conlen, Rachel Franciosa, and Manelle Conlen, as well as her great-grandchildren, Daniel Kidwell, Shawn Kidwell, Emily Kidwell, and Kylie Kidwell. Ruth was also a very dear friend to Tracy (Patti) McBride. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Craig Conlen.

Ruth graduated from Medford High School in 1953 and went on to attend nursing school, a testament to her caring and compassionate nature. Throughout her life, Ruth took great pride in being a supportive mother and loving wife. She enjoyed many activities with Chuck, including riding his Honda “Gold Wings” and being an active member of their motorcycle club. Ruth’s passions extended to traveling, arts and crafts, and camping. She particularly loved cheering on her grandkids at their sports events.

A private interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, honoring Ruth's enduring spirit of kindness and care.
