Isabell Kurko

Isabell Kurko, 93 years of age, passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday March 11, 2023, at her home in San Diego, CA.  Isabell was born November 7, 1929, in St. Clair Shores, Michigan to the late Ronald and Elizabeth McDonald.  She was the second oldest of six children and is survived by her sister Betty.  Isabell graduated from St. Gertrude Catholic High School in 1946. Isey, as her friends called her, married her high school sweetheart, the late David Kurko, in 1951 and 8 children were born from that union.  Isey brought her strong sense of faith to the raising of her children in Waterford, Michigan where she belonged to Our Lady of the Lakes Parish.  Isabell spent her early retirement years in Florida and Savannah, Georgia and in her later years she moved to San Diego, California. Isabell’s loving legacy includes her children David (Julie), the late Michael (Anne), Debra (Rick) Seder, the late Laura, Thomas (Stoney), John, James (Stacy), and Patrick (Amy) as well as 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and significant extended family. A Requiem Mass and Celebration of Life will be held at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Waterford, Michigan on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 12 PM.  Instate 11:30 AM. An Inurnment will take place immediately following the service at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at 2 PM for both Isabell Kurko and her late husband David Joseph Kurko.
