Helen Marie Sargent

SARGENT, HELEN M. of Waterford, passed away May 10, 2023 at 95 years of age. Loving wife of the late Charles Stouffer Sargent for 58 years; dear mother of Anna (Paul) Hepler-Ferman of Lake Orion and Kathy (Lynn) Pillow of Clarkston; grandmother of Christy (Rich) Podolski, Mark (Shelly) Hepler, Sherri (Jesse) Moyet, and Randy (Amy) Pillow; great grandmother of 11; great great grandmother of 1; sister of William (the late Virginia) Hedding of Colorado and the late Robert (Donna) Hedding; aunt to many nieces and nephews. Helen was born February 12, 1928 in Southfield, MI. A member of Drayton Plains Community Presbyterian Church since October 31, 1954 where she was a Sunday superintendent and teacher. She served as afternoon secretary in the church office for 23 years, 1963-1986. She was also a member of the Women’s Association and was awarded the Honorary Life Membership Award by the Presbyterian Women. Most recently she has been crocheting prayer shawls for church. She and Charlie also were volunteers at North Oakland Medical Center (formerly Pontiac General) for 12 years, 1986-1998. She served as treasurer of the Auxiliary while there. During her lifetime she enjoyed bible study, bowling, square dancing, and crocheting. She loved cooking for potluck dinners and picnics with her church family. She and Charlie loved traveling and spending time with their grandchildren. Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 12 noon at Community Presbyterian Church, 4301 Monroe, Waterford. Family will receive friends Tuesday 11 AM until time of service.
