Gloria Susan (Opie) Humphreys

HUMPHREYS, GLORIA SUSAN, of Fenton, passed away on September 14, 2023, at 85 years old. Gloria was born October 8, 1937, in Hazel Park, Michigan to the late Lillian (Brisson) and Milton Opie. Gloria graduated from Pontiac High School in 1955 and attended Michigan State Normal College (now known as Eastern Michigan University). Following her time at college, she worked at Michigan Bell, and later as a data processor at Lincoln Mutual. In her spare time, Gloria loved watching T.V., and completing crossword puzzles with her husband. She enjoyed ice cream, especially chocolate ice cream. She had fond memories of her time spent on Sylvan Lake and was an excellent swimmer, and was even on a synchronize swimming team. Above all, she cherished her time with children and and grandchildren. Gloria is survived by her children; Joseph (Julie) Humphreys, Kenneth (Dianna) Humphreys, Jeanne (Gregory) Triola, and Karen (Walter) Henderson; Grandchildren: Ryan, Brendan, Joseph III, Brady, Maria, Bella, Benjamin, Lillian, Luke, Evan, Aidan, David, Declan, and Brienna; Great-Grandson, Santiago; significant others Jenna and Luis. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 52 years, Joseph Francis Humphreys Sr. and her siblings; Marion (Charlie), Milton Jr. (Jeanette), Charles (Donna), Arlene (Jack), Delores (Gerald), and Nina (Larry). Gloria grew up on Sylvan Lake. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church (3700 Commerce Rd, West Bloomfield Township, MI 48324 at 11:30am. The Humphreys family will accept visitors on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at COATS FUNERAL HOME-WATERFORD (3141 Sashabaw Rd. Waterford, MI 48329 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a Rosary at 7 PM. Entombment will take place following mass at Christian Memorial Cultural Gardens, Rochester, Michigan. Donations can be made in Gloria’s name to the Right to Life of Michigan or the Alzheimer’s Association. The Humphreys family would like to thank Nicole and Tess from All Americans Hospice for their constant guidance and support during this time, and to Jana from Visiting Angels, for her special friendship with Gloria the past couple of years.
