Elizabeth Ann VanKuren

Elizabeth Ann VanKuren, 66, of Pontiac, passed away on February 2, 2026. She was born in Pontiac, Michigan on March 23, 1959, to the late Harold Hayworth and the late Lorraine Hayworth (née Hensley). She was raised in Clarkston, Michigan, alongside her siblings, Harold Lee Hayworth and Sabrina Garten (John). Through family, Elizabeth met the love of her life, James. They married on March 24, 1984, and together Elizabeth and James built a life rooted in commitment, laughter, and deep family pride.

Elizabeth was a devoted mother to four children: Joshua William, Crystle Mae (Michael), James Lee (Nichole), and Ashley Marie (Jackie Rae "Boo"). Her greatest joy came from watching her family grow, and she cherished every moment as a grandmother to Caylah, Damien, Alexander, Destiny, Angel (Kaleb), Michael (Kristine), Elissa, Jesse, Eli, Liam, Dayton, Olivia, and Abel, and as a great-grandmother to Greyson. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she wore her role as “Mom” and “Grandma” with unmatched pride. For 40 years, Elizabeth dedicated herself to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her compassion, work ethic, and steady presence touched countless lives and reflected her natural calling to serve.

At home, Elizabeth found happiness in life’s simple pleasures; feeding birds and squirrels, tending to her flower beds, and nurturing anything that grew. She had a true green thumb and remained especially proud of the umbrella tree she has tended to for 30 years. She also adored her two spoiled and deeply loved Labradors, Spooky and Mufasa, who were constant companions and a source of daily joy.

She leaves behind a family forever shaped by her presence and a life well lived in service, love, and grace.

A visitation honoring Elizabeth’s life will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 4 – 8 PM at Coats Funeral Home – WATERFORD (3141 Sashabaw).
