Edward James Yosick Jr.

Edward J. Yosick, Jr., 89, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with dementia.

Born on September 6, 1936, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, Ed was the son of the late Edward J. Yosick and Anna Florence (Hinds) Yosick. His father was killed in action during the Battle of the Bulge in 1943, a sacrifice that profoundly shaped Ed's appreciation for family, country, and service.

Ed graduated from New Philadelphia High School before attending The Ohio State University, where he lettered in lacrosse. In 1960, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served in Alaska until receiving an honorable discharge in 1963.

Following his military service, Ed and his family lived in Apple Valley, Minnesota, before settling in Michigan in 1980. He spent 21 years in Clarkston, a community he loved and proudly called home. He was a lifetime member of the New Philadelphia BPOE Elks Lodge #510 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

Family was the center of Ed's life. Nothing brought him greater joy than cheering on his grandchildren at wrestling, soccer, lacrosse, and football events. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed traveling, creating artwork, and playing golf, and was a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan. A gifted handyman, Ed never hesitated to lend a hand to anyone in need. He will be remembered for his generosity, dependability, quiet strength, and deep love for his family and country.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Hugh Michael Yosick.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Barith ("Bari") Stempfly Yosick; his sons, Edward ("Chip") J. Yosick III and wife Kateena, and Harold J. Yosick and wife Janet; his cherished grandchildren, Harrison Fletcher, Allie Douglane, Edward Yosick IV, and Harper Genelyn; his sisters, Viola Diehl of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Rose Meister of LaGrange, Georgia; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Ed was a proud American whose life was defined by service, hard work, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His legacy will live on through the family and friends whose lives he touched.

Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
