Edward Joseph Kretsch, 83, of Waterford Township, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on December 13, 2024. He was born on January 10, 1941, to the late Elmer and Florence (Marion) Kretsch in Detroit, Michigan.
After graduating high school, Edward proudly served his country by joining the United States Air Force. On October 19, 1963, he married his beloved wife, Sandra Maior, at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Detroit, Michigan, during an unforgettable four-day wedding celebration. Together, they shared a deep love for fishing and traveling, particularly to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Their family’s annual trips to the Dune Shores Resort on Lake Michigan became cherished traditions. Edward and Sandra’s love story spanned 58 remarkable years until her passing in 2022.
Edward was a lifetime member of the Oakland County Sportsman’s Club and an NRA-certified firearms instructor. He spent countless hours at the club, relishing the camaraderie and connections he built there.
Above all, Edward was a devoted and loving father who always went above and beyond for his children. He was a steadfast friend who valued loyalty and cherished time spent with loved ones. His kindness, care, and dedication to those he held dear will always be remembered.
Edward is survived by his children, Edward Kretsch, Bridgette Packer, and Michael Kretsch; his grandchildren, Amanda, Ryan, Leanna, and Brianna; and his great-grandchildren, Carter, Charlotte, Harvey, and Danielle; and sister-in-law, JoAnn Kretsch. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Kretsch; his parents, Elmer and Florence Kretsch; and his brothers, Elmer and John Kretsch.
A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Coats Funeral Home, 3141 Sashabaw Road, Waterford, MI 48329, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m.
