Dean Cecil Jacobson

Dean Cecil Jacobson, of Waterford, Michigan, passed away surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, faith, and unwavering devotion to those he cherished most.

Born in Pontiac, Michigan, Dean was the beloved son of Dean Earl Jacobson and Mitzi Fager. He was raised in a close-knit family alongside his sisters, Nancy Stockenhouer, Patricia (Dan) Boucher, Margaret (Ron) Uptegraft, and the late April Chapa, as well as his brother, David (Connie) Mason. The values of family, loyalty, and compassion that shaped his childhood remained the foundation of his life.

In 1977, Dean married the love of his life, Ruby. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, laughter, commitment, and unconditional love. Their marriage was a shining example of partnership and devotion, creating a home where family always came first.

Dean was a proud and loving father to Theresa (Kevin) Artis, James Jacobson, and Andrea Almanza. He was the kind of father every child hopes to have; attentive, supportive, encouraging, and endlessly caring. Whether offering guidance, lending a listening ear, or simply showing up when he was needed most, Dean made sure his children always knew they were deeply loved.

A lifelong member and dedicated supporter of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and School, Dean was a familiar face in the community. He enthusiastically supported the school's athletic programs and could often be heard cheering on the Lakers with pride. "Go Lakers!" was more than a phrase, it reflected his unwavering commitment to the school, its students, and the community he loved.

Dean's generosity touched countless lives. He believed that every person deserved to feel valued and included. Many will remember how, during his daughters' cheerleading days, he made sure every girl on the team received a flower on Sweetest Day, a simple but meaningful gesture that reflected the kindness in his heart. He never sought recognition for his acts of generosity; he simply enjoyed making others feel special.

Perhaps Dean's greatest joy was being a grandfather and great-grandfather. He was the proud grandfather of Joshua (Krystal) Jesse, Cameron (Shannon) Hunsberger, Samantha Hunsberger, Hannah Hunsberger, Rory Artis, Jessica (Zach) Savage, Taylor (CJ) Robinson, and Jake Almanza. He was also blessed to be the great-grandfather of Krystina and Xander, Dahlia, Calvin, Giovanni, and one precious great-grandchild on the way.

Dean had a remarkable gift for listening. He paid attention to the little details others might overlook, storing away stories, interests, and dreams shared by those he loved. Later, often when least expected, he would transform those details into thoughtful surprises, meaningful conversations, or cherished memories. Through these acts, he continually reminded his family just how important they were to him.

He understood that life's greatest treasures were often found in the ordinary moments. Saturday mornings were sacred, a time reserved for breakfast with family, sharing stories, laughter, and togetherness. Those simple gatherings became treasured traditions and some of the family's most beloved memories.

Outside of family, Dean enjoyed vintage cars, proudly followed the Detroit Lions through every season, and remained a devoted fan of University of Michigan sports. Whether cheering from the stands, gathering around the television with family, or admiring a classic automobile, he embraced life with enthusiasm and gratitude.

Dean's life was defined by the countless lives he touched through love, generosity, faith, and genuine care. He made people feel seen, heard, and valued. His presence brought comfort, his laughter brought joy, and his love created a foundation that will continue to support his family for generations.

Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, the lessons he taught, the traditions he created, and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Dean will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.

A memorial service honoring Dean's life will be held at Williams Lake Church on July 5, 2026 at 1pm.
