MAURANT, DAVID, Sr., age 91 of Dearborn Heights, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. He was born on December 22, 1929 in Detroit to parents Willie and Louise Maurant. David worked as a skilled tradesman for Chrysler, Alcoa Steel, and retired from Detroit Edison. He was a pilot and a talented pianist. David had a passion for music, whether he was listening to it, singing along, or whistling a tune. David lived a fulfilled life and was able to do anything he put his mind to. More than anything, he enjoyed time with his family. He especially enjoyed the last ten years which he spent alongside his daughter and her husband, both loving caretakers, Bonnie and Clayton Edwards. David is survived by his children: Gwendolyn (Melvin) Jenkins, David Maurant, Jr., Dr. Julie (James) Brown, Bonnie (Clayton) Edwards, and Alesa (Alex) Knox; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; siblings: Dr. Leroy Maurant and Marion Stokes and; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by both parents; siblings: Willie Maurant, Jr., Mildred Shaw, Jessie Maurant, and Jasper Maurant. Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of David (www.alz.org). As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial will be held at a later date.
