Curtis Lee Hutcheson, a devoted family man and the heart of his family, passed away on January 29, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on September 29, 1934, Curtis lived a life defined by love, loyalty, and an unwavering dedication to his family.
Family was everything to Curtis. He was married to the love of his life, the late Bonnie Hutcheson, for 44 beautiful years. Together they built a life grounded in love, laughter, and strong family values, raising four children whom Curtis was endlessly proud of: Deborah Hutcheson, Curtis Brian Hutcheson, Leon Hutcheson, and Susan Hutcheson-Lanzetta. Being a father was one of his greatest joys, and he carried that role with pride, patience, and a steady presence that his children always relied on.
Curtis wasn’t just a dad to his own children, he was Dad to everyone. Friends of his children, even those who have known him for more than 30 years, still lovingly referred to him as “Dad.” He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, valued, and part of the family. Curtis was the centerpiece who brought everyone together, creating a sense of belonging that extended far beyond blood.
To his grandchildren, Curtis was proudly known as Papaw, a title he wore with joy. He shared an incredibly special bond with each of them: Charles Daniel Hutcheson, Patrick Curtis Brown, Amanda Lou Lanzetta, Jacob Lee Hutcheson, Julia Marie Hutcheson, Josef Edwards, and Jayson Edwards. Papaw was known as the very best secret keeper, ONLY when it came to his grandkids, and they treasured the love, laughter, and quiet understanding they shared with him.
Curtis’s heart grew even fuller as he watched his family continue to grow. He delighted in his great-great-grandchildren: Alora Brown, Jaxon Brown, Lincoln Heiple, and Jacob Hutcheson, Jr., each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.
Curtis will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and even friends of friends. His kindness, strength, and steady love left a lasting mark on every life he encountered.
Curtis Lee Hutcheson’s legacy lives on through the family he cherished so deeply and the countless lives he impacted simply by being himself. He will forever be remembered, loved, and honored.
