Claris Kuhl Obituary

Claris Sue Kuhl, age 79, of Independence Township, passed away on October 11, 2024. Born in Canyon Falls, Kentucky, to the late Harvey Augusta and Talmarie Lucas (nee Branson),  was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.


Claris is survived by her cherished children: Tina (Chris) Chowning, Mark Davis, Lisa (Kevin) Austin, and Chad Davis; preceded in death by her son William George Davis Jr. III. She was a proud grandmother to Kristina Siegel-Davis, Nikole (Jordan) Pearson, Isabella (Jarrod) Britton, Devon (Jason) Journeau, Alex Austin, James (Jade) Kritzman, Salina Kritzman, Ashley (Josh) Kritzman, William (Justina) Davis, Skyler Davis, Cierra Davis, and Timothy Fox, and a great-grandmother to Maysn, Gavin, Mila, Ty, Emlee, Rory, Alyanna, Corey, Layla, Aubree, Zayn, Blake Lily, Robert, Isabella. Claris was a dear sister and was preceded in death by her siblings and in-laws, Anita (the late Larry) McCaslin, Lorena (Tom) Neighbors and Fran (Ronald) Kline.
A proud graduate of Avondale High School,  Claris dedicated approximately 17 years of her career to General Motors, where she worked across various departments at the foundry and Truck and Bus. In her later years, she devoted her time to fundraising efforts aimed at helping the less fortunate. Claris had a zest for life that shone through her many passions. An avid NASCAR fan, she enjoyed visiting the Michigan International Speedway. Her hobbies included hunting, woodworking, and crafting with resin, and she took great joy in nurturing her garden. Known for her culinary skills, she delighted her family with comforting Southern dishes, especially her famous biscuits and gravy. She also spent many hours canning, preserving her love for homemade goodness.
