Christian Peter Schmidt, Jr.

SCHMIDT, CHRISTIAN P. JR. of Clarkston, passed away at 74 years of age. Loving husband of the late Suzanne (née North) for 54 years; dear father of Suzan (Ken) Dean and Christian (Bryanne) Schmidt; papa of Zach, Kylee, and Kyra; beloved son of Christian and the late Veda (née Peters) Schmidt, Sr.; brother of Linda Fulkerson.  Chris was a veteran of the US Army-Vietnam where he served two tours of duty. The end of his second tour he was assigned to the general as general’s cook because Chris could bake pies! He retired from Somerset Pontiac/GMC after over 30 years of service in the service department. He was a proud member of the VFW #1008 in Waterford. Chris enjoyed camping; fishing; hunting; cooking and baking; big U of M fan; and bowled for many years with 3 generations of Schmidts on his team. He was a quiet man, wonderful son, husband, father and papa who could be a little sarcastic once he got to know you. He will be forever missed and loved. Funeral service will be held Friday, September 6, 2024 at COATS FUNERAL HOME-WATERFORD. Burial will follow with military honors at 1:30 PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Family will receive friends Thursday 4-8 PM.
